About Crowdfunding with Australian National University

USEED@ANU is a powerful new tool for supporting select projects at ANU through targeted philanthropic giving. We eagerly seek projects that:

Frequently Asked Questions 

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes, Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible in Australia. 

All donations to The Australian National University are administered through the office of Alumni Relations and Philanthropy. The Australian National University is endorsed as a deductible gift recipient (DGR) by the Australian Taxation Office under item 1 of section 30-15 (Subdivision 30 BA) of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.

Tax deductibility of UK & USA residents

If you are a resident of the United Kingdom of USA you can make a gift through the ANU (UK) Foundation or the ANU Foundation USA. Please contact the office of Alumni Relations and Philanthropy for further information endowment@anu.edu.au.

Tax deductibility for Canadian residents

If you live in Canada, you are able to support ANU the same way as in Australia

ANU has been recognized as a prescribed foreign university under section 35503 of the Canadian Income Tax Regulations. ANU has been added as of January 1, 2011 to Schedule VIII of the Regulations by Order-in-Council P.C. 2012-1330. A donation made by a Canadian donor at any time in the year of recognition or later can be claimed against the taxable income for the year under subparagraph 110.1(1)(a)(vi) and paragraph 118.1(1)(f) of the Canadian Income Tax Act. 

Where is my donation going?

Your donation will be deposited with The Australian National University and administered by the office of Alumni Relations and Philanthropy. Your gift will be directed to the project you have supported. Gifts are subject to University policies, no fees are deducted from your donation.  

What happens if a campaign doesn't meet its funding goal?

If a campaign falls short of its funding goal, the funds raised will still be released to the project. In the event that a project cannot be undertaken because of the shortfall, the money raised will be retained by the office of Alumni Relations and Philanthropy for use on a project with similar goals.   

What happens if a project is overfunded?

If a campaign raises more than its stated funding goal, the office of Alumni Relations and Philanthropy will work with the project team to determine whether the surplus should be used to enhance the funded project, or be reserved for use by similar projects in the future.   

How is my privacy protected?

The University will respect the privacy of all donors. Donor information will be used by the University to maintain contact with donors and to keep donors up-to-date with information about the University, its services, events, and achievements. It may be passed to groups affiliated with the University, such as alumni organisations. Donor's names may be published in some publications as an acknowledgment of their generosity.

Can I be an anonymous donor?

The University will provide anonymity for donors who request it and can tailor the level of contact that donors receive to reflect each donor's wishes.

What recognition will I receive for my gift?

All donors will receive an official tax receipt for The Australian National University as well as appropriate acknowledgment and recognition for their generosity. 

How will ANU keep me informed?

Once a donation is made the University will provide donors with regular reports about the way their gifts have contributed to our success. It will also make available the University's most recently published financial statements, usually in the form of Annual Reports.

Privacy Notice

When you make a donation through USEED you will be asked to register your details. You may be asked to submit personal information including, but not limited to:

a) your name
b) your email address
c) your postal address; and other personal information. 

If you choose not to submit your personal details you cannot be registered to make a donation. Any information you submit will only be used to process your donation and will be stored in the USA by USEED Inc (the owner of this website). All personal information collected is subject to USEED Inc's Privacy Policy (located at the bottom of this page) and should you have any privacy concerns or would like to verify information held about you please contact USEED at support@useed.org.

Complaint Policy

Any privacy complaints should be made in writing to 7025 E. Via Soleri Dr., Apt 2015, Scottsdale Arizona, 85251, United States of America or by email to support@useed.org.
Privacy complaints are managed by Ross Sylvester.

Ross will:

  1. Receive and acknowledge the complaint
  2. Seek further information from the complainant if necessary
  3. Thoroughly investigate the complaint
  4. Respond to the complainant with the outcome of the investigation
